The Causes of Anoxemia:

Cause of anoxaemia may last long time.
Oxygen administration must be continued.
Object is not simply palliative but curative.
Interval for recovery from original cause.
We are not dealing with a machine.
Living organism returns to normal if opportunity is given.
Extremely wasteful administration methods.
Funnel over patient's face.
Patient rebreathes a good deal of expired air.
May hardly get any of oxygen.
Far better methods available.
Insert rubber catheter into mouth or nose.
Pass oxygen into rubber bag connected with inspiratory valve of an anaesthetic mask placed over patient's mouth & nose.
Patient inhales from bag.
Exhales outside through expiratory valve in mask.
